Los Angeles-based fashion designer Grace Kim radiated the runway at the TENT at Boston Fashion Week with a parade of pastel-infused pieces. Kim’s collection is pretty — plain and simple. Her work includes dresses and separates in a clam color pallette of mauve, olive, navy and taupe which the catwalk can’t resist. Kim crafts clothing in a way that allowes for graceful movement and ease at every turn. I’m crushing on the first dress pictured below. It’s perfect for a casual afternoon brunch in Boston’s South End or it can easily be dressed to the nines for an evening of cocktails at the city’s waterfront. 

A native of the west coast, Kim moved to Boston to attend college. She worked in the financial sector, but always felt that she was destined for more. After her first child was born, Kim decided to forgo the corporate world for more creative pastures — a career in fashion. Kim graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and began working in the industry three years ago.

Kim is inspired by classical beauties such as Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn and Carrie Mulligan. I applaud her for leaving an unfulfilling job in pursuit of her passion. I believe many individuals with an inner-calling to follow their dream, myself included, can take a page out of Kim’s book. Never settle, she told me.
