Although winter doesn’t officially begin for a few weeks (December 21 to be exact), I’ve already fallen victim to the season’s rough and tumble elements. Dry skin is something many of us battle on a daily basis when the temperature turns raw. A dehydrated décolletage? Ugh! Unfortunately. A bed of thirsty cuticles? Coming right up. How about a parched laugh line or two? Smile.
I slay the proverbial winter warlord known as dry skin for months on end with lotions, potions and other kinds of creamy devotion. And one of my must-have brands in the battle for sought-after smoothness is CeraVe. My dermatologist, a leading physician in Boston, actually recommended the non-comedogenic and fragrance-free line years ago. And I’ve been hooked since – even though I sample other beauty products as part of this job.
I love when the press team behind CeraVe sends goodness my way. For the past four weeks, I’ve been indulging in several products including two that are new on the market: CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream and CeraVe Renewing SA Cream. As a long-time lover of Crabtree & Evelyn’s Gardeners lotion following my ever-so-frequent hand washes, CeraVe’s water-resistant formula is a nice alternative as it instantly restores moisture without being overly oily.
The brand’s SA (salicylic acid) cream is ideal for extremly dry (and often damaged) skin as the salicylic acid and ammonium lactate work to loosen and exfoliate dead cells. If you’re a frequent stiletto superstar like I am, this cream will offer some serious healing to your heels. I apply a thin layer to my feet, slip on a pair of fluffy socks and voilà – instant refreshment.
When it comes to other favorites, I’m well versed in the benefits of CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM with SPF 30. Its ultra-soft formula leaves a flawless finish under my make-up while offering significant protection from the sun. And just because frost has formed on the ground, doesn’t mean you can skip your SPF. For added moisture before bedtime, try CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. It works wonders on my fine and frown lines, however I do like to alternate with a lighter nighttime lotion. Here’s hoping this season is softer for you thanks to CeraVe.
