I was browsing design sites today looking for inspiration for my oh-so-blah home office (discussion for another post) and came across a quiz: What is your Design Style. Now, I love “personality” quizzes….like LOVE them. I often find that my results truly represent me. So as I answered each question click by effortless click, I was confident that these results would paint a true picture.
Question 1: Which flower arrangement would look best on your coffee table?
A) Rose
B) Hydrangea
C) Tulip
B) Hydrangea
C) Tulip
I absolutely love roses – long, beautiful and classic. But were roses too safe, too common, too predictable? Possibly. I also love hydrangeas – simple, yet complex at the same time. The purple-blue ones always bring me inspiration…usually inspiration to redecorate my entire home in the same hue. Hydrangea it was!
Questions 2: Which shoes best represents your go-to look?
A) Flat
B) Cowboy boot
C) Wedge
B) Cowboy boot
C) Wedge
What? No flip flops? Really? Who designed this quiz? I absolutely LOVE flip flops…probably as much as I love personality quizzes. Flip flops are the ultimate in summer comfort and versatility…and they are a pedestal for a purrfectly chic pedicure. I chose the flat…it’s like a flip flop but with added coverage. I could so picture myself strolling the Champs-Elysées in these Tory Burch Metallic Reva Ballet Flats. I’m a (mere) size 10. Hint. Hint.

Question 3: Which set of colors make you feel most comfortable?
Yuck. I hated these patterns and none of them made me feel comfortable, calm or cozy for that matter. These colors actually sacred me. I concluded that the person who assembled these combinations was clearly having a bad day. Nonetheless, I chose option C for its softness.
Question 4: Which of these chairs would you like to sink into at the end of the day?

A) Toile Upholstery |

B) Slipcoverd chair |

C) Red and Paisley |
Are these chairs for real? Am I 80-years-old? None of them look remotely comfortable, slightly inviting or at all pleasing to the eye. A glass of wine with a side of red and paisley after a long day?!? I think not. I cut the slipcovered chair some slack and chose it for its countryside feel…even though I would have preferred to pamper my tired toes in this microfiber velvet lounge chair (pictured below) from Crate & Barrel.

Visit me tomorrow when I post the four remaining questions and reveal my “true” design style. In the meantime, I will not be lounging in any slipcovered furniture.
