As with any Hollywood award show, the Primetime Emmy Awards had its share of stylish superstars and fashion faux pas. Here’s a look at my top five favorites.
Emily VanCamp in J. Mendel
Gray is one of my favorite colors. So naturally, I gushed when I saw the ash gray J. Mendel gown worn by Emily VanCamp. Talk about soft, elegant and romantic. This is the kind of dress I can see myself wearing…a classic silhouette showcasing an intricate bust line. Plus how can you not fall in love with her Van Cleef & Arpels diamond bow bracelet? Swoon! Definitely #1 in my book.
Hayden Panettiere in Marchesa
I always play it safe when it comes to fashion…especially evening attire. But there is something about Hayden’s gold gown with rich blue overlay from Marchesa that I absolutely love. The rich fabrics and textures exude a sense of royalty. It’s one of my top picks because I ‘d likely never choose it for myself.
Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen
I love Kelly’s purple Zac Posen one-shoulder gown, but her matching purple streaked hair is a little much for me. One-shoulder dresses and tops are one of my favorite styles. They seem to bode well with my body. Kelly’s black diamond nail polish is certainly nothing to be over looked. The luxury lacquer from Los Angeles jeweler Azature costs a ridiculous $250,000 a bottle. And I thought my once $70 splurge manicure was expensive.
Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan
Leslie Mann made a lasting impression in a vibrant marigold skirt with ivory beaded bodice straight from Naeem Khan‘s 2013 spring collection. Yellow and orange can be risky if not done right, but in this case the combined color is a marriage made in hue heaven. Although I’ve read mixed reviews about her turquoise Lorraine Schwartz jewelery, I think they pair perfectly with her dress.
Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier
I love the color and I love the cut…that’s the only reason Heidi’s here. The double thigh-high slits are awkward and look awful when snapped while she’s in full stride. Keep it simple, Heidi. Simplicity is sexy and less is more. Remember Angelina Joile’s infamous leg at this year’s Oscars? It was a thigh-high slit done right. And I have to take a moment to gush over Heidi’s to-die-for Charlotte Olympia heels. Meow!
